On February 9, 1997: Brian Connolly dies at the age
of 52
For a couple of weeks Brian
had been very ill, possibly with a stroke and another heart attack,
but had been asked not to let this news out, so as to give Brian
every opportunity to recover. Unfortunately, the hospital was
to release him and send him home as they felt there was nothing
more they could do.
He didn't make it home, but died later on
Sunday night in the hospital. Brian's problem with alcohol has
left him physically scared. He is reputed to have had more heart
attacks than any other man still alive. Brian's last concert at
Bristol on December 5th, before contractual problems, then ill
health, prevented further concerts.
