March 19,1990: Andrew Wood dies
at the age of 24

Lead singer
with Mother Love Bone; from Columbus, Minnesota. Andrew was in
the Seattle grunge scene in the late eighties. He was singer with
Malfunkshun before forming Mother Love Bone in 1988.
He formed
the band with guitar player Stone Gossard and bass player Jeff
Ament. He had quit a heroin habit three months before the release
of their debut album "Apple". Just before
the bands breakthroug, Andrew died from an overdose a month later
the album was released but the planned tour was cancelled. Gossard
and Ament went on to form Pearl Jam. A tribut album "Temple
of the Dog " was released and went into the top ten of the
album chart in 1992.
